What is POPII? (pronounced poppy)
Delivering a baby prematurely as opposed to full term can be a very isolating experience. Irish parents have access to medical advice on their premature child through books, the internet, and dedicated hospital staff. In respect to emotional support, Ireland unfortunately had very little to offer. This is why POPII was founded.
POPII Update:
Popii has decided to put our support group meetings on hold for the
foreseeable future. As parents of premature children our main objective was to
support parents from the birth of their children onwards. Since Popii was
established another group, Irish Premature Babies, have set up and are now
offering a similar service. We are delighted that there is another group in
operation but we felt that having two groups with similar objectives would
be counterproductive. Although we have put our meetings on hold we are still
available to share our experiences or to chat with other parents at any stage.
Thank you to everyone for all your support over the last year!
As popii is a support group operated by parent volunteers we do not offer any medical or baby care advice, but we are more than happy to share our own handy tips and tricks that we have learned ourselves along our own prem parenting journeys.
